I've never seen a dog to be the clone of another until Spikey came along. He looks just like his dad, Samson. He acted just like Sam did too. He was often the aggressor when they played, and he was extremely rambunctious. He was hard to keep up with when he got going. He loved to pull and tug and play hard all the time. We even decided to keep his tail instead of getting it docked, because he looked so much like Sam. He was a beautiful fawn, not quite brown, but not white or red. He reminded me of the color of coffee. I miss him nearly as much as I miss my boo boo. He and Bruce were such opposites, it was so funny to watch them play. They were always buddies. Spike would be one of the only ones to play with Samson when Duke and Brucey were to scared to do it. He really had a fearless personality, and that was one of the things that I loved most about him.
Spike fought his virus till the very end. We even thought he was getting better before he turned for the worst. He was such a great, beautiful, playful dog, and he didn't deserve to go like he did. I know he and Brucey are in heaven playing now, keeping watch over me, Michael, Duke, Daisy, Roxy, & Bentley. They saw their brother through his virus, I honestly believe they were the reason that Duke kept fighting. I loved Spike so much, and I shouldn't have waited as long to post this as I did, but it's still just a hard thing to cope with. He nor Bruce deserved this, but they both fought as hard as they could, and they fought it to the end.
If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
Rest in Peace Spike "Pikey" Bearden
